[01] ABOUT THE STUDIO
Discover what is sound, and how this fundamental concept allows us to interact with the world. Each module covers a different part of sound, such as why different DIY instruments sound different.
THE SCIENCE OF MAKING
WHAT'S AUDIBLE, VISIBLE
[02] MODULES

VISUALIZING
Switch on a large analog speaker and place green beans inside of it. The beans start to dance because sound is the vibration of air molecules.

WAVES
Frequency is like "taps per second". When a washing machine pipe is spun faster, the pitch created by air rushing through the pipe rises.

INSTRUMENTS
Make your own cereal box guitar, popsicle stick harmonica & straw water whistle. Link these to a datalogger and explore how their waves differ.

RESONANCE
Build your own wave pendulum to see how each system has a natural frequency. Guitar harmonics rely on the relation between frequency & resonance.
