Are Einstein Programs really free?Small-group sessions and Carnivals are 100% free. We only require a suitable venue with tables and chairs, and preferably a projector. However, our camps are not free due to the cost of meals and materials. The average cost for a 2D0N Camp per child is about $20. We can adapt our administrative processes according to your organization's SOPs, but generally we will pass your organization the individual purchase receipts and be reimbursed in bulk. Email us for more info.

Can I get more details about Einstein Programs? The exact structure of our programs differs for each organization. We may change activities and teaching styles according to the number of kids and their age groups. Email us to schedule a virtual/physical meeting so we can better meet your needs. As many of us are still students, we prefer meetings on weekday afternoons or weekends.

How does Einstein work with kids who "hate science"?"Kids who "hate science" are our target group! We founded Einstein to encourage a love for learning outside the classroom in kids who don't adapt well to traditional teaching methods. Our team comprises Olympiad medalists and award-winning young scientific researchers who understand the frontiers of science. We expose kids to these practical applications so they can connect what they discover through our programs to their daily lives. We also avoid scientific jargon because we've also spent many years as volunteer tutors in VWOs and children’s homes. Our pedagogy is grounded in the Feynman Technique of learning, and inspired by WIRED's videos where complex scientific conepts are broken down into five different levels. We deliver our content through stories, skits, everyday analogies & DIY activities, and we engage every single child throughout each session.

However, we warmly welcome you to help virtually in other ways such as: Website/Graphic Design Program Planning Making Science Videos DIY Projects (such as 3D Printing & Laser Cutting)

Who is Eligible to Apply? You must be a Y5 student in RI this year The length of commitment as an OT will be from May 2021 to June 2022 Pls also note that many of our programs take place on weekends and during the June Hols

Do I have to be a Science Student?Absolutely not! Einstein is about understanding how the world around us works, and everyone is thus learning about science regardless of whether we take science as a subject. Contact Phebe from OT4 to learn more about how her experience has been as a humanities student.

Is Op Einstein mainly about Physics? We are Op Einstein and NOT Op Physics When we began as a student-run project with no seed funding or track record, we lacked funding and relied on the kind support of the NUS Department of Physics. Many of our experiments were thus initially Physics-centric because chem/bio/tech experiments require a constant supply of new resources. However, Einstein has since gained a considerable reputation, and we are now supported by multiple organizations. As you can see from our STEM camps, we have expanded into multiple domain areas, and we are continuing to increase the scope of our programs. We appreciate the diversity of experience, ideas & skills that each team member brings to Einstein, and we do not set any pre-requisites in terms of subject combination. And don't worry about the Physics content because it is kid-friendly!

Can I have Other Commitments like National School Games, Council, H3, etc ..."Of course! We have student councilors, national athletes, CCALs, and International Olympiad medalists in our team. As Einstein runs many programs and deals with many stakeholders, other commitments and leadership experiences will come in very handy in managing this initiative. Feel free to reach out to us via this Wix Site/Email/Instagram to understand how we’ve managed our multiple commitments.

What recognition do I get from joining the Einstein OTEinstein is a CE01 project, and not a CCA. This means that your involvement in the OT will be reflected in RD under the domain of “community & citizenship” and not “leadership”. Being in the OT qualifies you for RD Merit, but you need to be an active member of a service CCA to qualify for RD Distinction. However, those of us who have already graduated can say from our experience that what you learn from your various activities from Y3 to Y6 is way more important than RD (which is just a sheet of paper that no one outside RI cares about). If you already volunteer with us regularly, we hope that you realize what Einstein is truly about.

Must I be involved after my term as OT ends? Before you finish your term, your OT should do a proper handover to the next OT. While the next OT may sometimes go to you for quick advice, we would like you to focus on your 'A' Levels. After your 'A's, we expect, but will not force, you to continue to be involved in some capacity. This could mean advising the new OT, vetting new initiatives, or even coming for Einstein sessions. Many of us are still involved in Einstein even while we’re in NS or waiting to start university, and we hope to work with a team who cares about Einstein as much as we do!

How do I apply to be part of the Einstein OT?Firstly, we strongly recommend that you volunteer with us first. It doesn't make sense to apply to be in the exco of a CCA that you're not a member of, and the same goes for Einstein. If you already enjoy volunteering with Einstein, the easiest way to apply is to simply tell any of us that you're interested! However, we recognize that COVID-19 has restricted our number of sessions and limited your possible participation in Einstein. So we warmly encourage you to apply if what we do resonates with you. You can find more details here!

Are Einstein programs safe?As a STEM Education non-profit, our programs are run in accordance with MOE guidelines. Refer to our COVID-19 Measures page for more details.
